Our train pulls into Penn Station about eleven-thirty. Besides the usual waiting to board and to get off the train, our trip was pleasantly uneventful. I was able to read my romantic comedy in its entirety, and Chase slept most of the way. It amazes me how quickly that man can fall asleep, but I honestly can’t blame him for being so tired. In order for him to get today off, he had to work a double shift yesterday at the hospital. He’s such a sweet, caring man, and he’s always thinking about ‘us’ before himself. I thank my lucky stars for him every day.

Chase has so many wonderful qualities, but his organization skills and planning top the charts. I used to think that I was the master planner, but Chase puts me to shame. Although I am still better at the spur of the moment or smaller events, Chase excels in the more involved, extremely detailed types of occasions. He’s meticulous and thinks about everything, whether it’s something big or a small minute detail. He doesn’t like to plan impulsive trips, which makes me wonder how long he has been organizing today’s shopping trip.

“So, are you hungry? Wanna grab a bite to eat before we hit the shops?” Chase asks as soon as we leave the station.

“You mean to tell me you don’t have this entire trip planned down to the minute?” I ask teasingly.

Chase cocks his head to one side and smiles. “Mandi, we’re going to be here for hours. You have a dress to find, and I need a new tuxedo. My finding a tux will take a matter of minutes, whereas your task? I have no clue how long that will take. I know you want to find that perfect dress. Hell, I want you to find that perfect dress. So, no, I don’t have this trip planned in that much detail. All I know is I’m hungry.”

I giggle. “Then by all means, let’s get the man some food!”

“That’s my girl! I love when you’re so agreeable. How about we walk across the street to NY Pizza Suprema? I’m dying for pizza, and it’s close.”

“God, Chase, I love that pizza! Just do me a huge favor? Please don’t let me pig out. I have dresses to try on, and I don’t want to feel like a bloated cow,” I say, laughing.

He takes my hand and we walk toward the pizzeria. We wait for the crosswalk signal to change and follow the stream of traffic across the street. Once safely on the other side, I say, “And while we eat, let’s decide where all we want to shop. I figured we should head to Macy’s since it’s close. I think if I look through their dresses, I can get a better idea of what style I want.”

“Okay, that sounds reasonable, but I think I have an idea of the style of dress that looks best on you. I also have a few boutiques in mind. But eventually, I want to head to the Time Warner Center.
